Making Sense of Church
Making Sense of Church by Spencer Burke is a real gem and a must read for anyone trying to get a grasp on the postmodern mission frontier. The book itself are Spencer's reflections on conversations that have taken place on his website among the postmoderns who are at all points of the spiritual journey. You quickly get a sense of the shift in culture that is taking place: the shift in mode and venue for spiritual conversation; the hunger for meaning; the sense of spiritual abandonment and desire for authentic community.
Who should read this book? Every pastor and youth worker goes without saying. But it would be a great book for a church council or leadership team to discuss, particularly in an insulated community that is still grounded in modern thinking and mission. The world has changed and is ready to be engaged rather than shunned. Making Sense of Church is a great introduction that will get you ready to join the world of the ooze and postmodern faith.

Spencer Burke founded www.theooze.com, a wonderful site attracting post-moderns from around the world. If you want a sense of what's going on in the emerging generation, read his work and visit the ooze community.
