Nooma.com
Nooma is a web resource for reaching the younger generations. Each DVD is an example of the emerging trend of sermon as story. These are not talking head videos. Each combines music, location and story in an effective manner to teach a Biblical lesson. They are very professionally done, and evoke a strong response from the audience. Anyone who is looking for innovative ways to reach the unchurched should check out this site and try their product. The price is a bargain.
Nooma is a non-profit organization. The videos are produced using donations from those who are touched by the work. They can be purchased at the Nooma.com website.
The Nooma videos feature teaching by Rob Bell, a pastor at Mars Hill church. For sample bible teachings go here. These are bible teachings targeted at post-moderns.
Here is an article entitled, "Postmodern Ministry Takes Us Back to The Bible," that illustrates the differences in reaching the post-modern audience. It also includes an audio file of a Rob Bell bible teaching. Listen to this, Rob takes us into an experience of God.

Since we launched TransformingChurch.com, and posted this link to Nooma, it has been far and away the most visited page on our site. It is the search term that most often brings people here. See one of their videos and you'll see what all the excitement is about.

We paired 7 of Rob Bell's DVDs with Michael Foss's book REAL FAITH FOR REAL LIFE - Living the 6 Marks of Discipleship in a fall program for our Adults and teens. We have had enthusiastic endorsement of these DVDs by viewers of many ages. Somesone said, "Rob Bell is deep enough for adults to find much to discuss while he's 'hip' enough for the teenagers to listen to." We anticipate using these DVDs in additional small group settings going forward.

Following last year's TLG introduction to the first of the Nooma films, I ordered them all and selected five to be used as a mid-week Lenten series in 2005. I created my own small group discussions, but Nooma has since created their own you may find helpful. Paired with Holden Evening Prayer, this series was wonderfully accepted by a broad spectrum of our very diverse faith community. Solicited feedback was unanimously positive. (For Lent I selected: RAIN, KICKBALL, TREES, LUMP and LUGGAGE --in that order.) We have since used these and others in a variety of settings including high school, small groups and council. (Note: not all are appropriate for every audience.)
