Kerry Maurer
Kerry was ordained as a Lutheran Minister in 1983 and has served St. Luke Church in Bloomsburg, PA for over twenty years. A native of central Pennsylvania he has served all of his years in the Upper Susquehanna Synod. St. Luke Church was a small village congregation in rural Columbia County with an average worship attendance of 90 when Kerry arrived as pastor in 1986. Today St. Luke’s averages 330 at worship and is also served by an associate pastor and three lay professional ministries positions. Kerry has devoted his career to learning the principals of leadership and developing the spiritual gifts of God’s people. St. Luke’s seeks its mission in the world using the slogan, “Linking Hearts and Hands,” a reminder that faith must be lived out in mission to all of God’s people.
Kerry is a graduate of Susquehanna University, with a B.A. in English, holds a M.Div. from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Gettysburg, and as of 2008 will complete his work toward a D.Min. degree from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia. He and his wife Angela have two daughters, Emily, a student at Susquehanna University, and Adrienne, soon to graduate from high school.
